Going nuclear

22/10/2026 18:01:00

Re: "Adopt AI-driven future, says Dhanin", (Business, Oct 22).

Dhanin Chearavanont, senior chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, opined about the need to overhaul Thailand to capture opportunities regarding the future of AI, including the viability of nuclear power in the generation of clean and green electricity generation.

Unlike other scholars, including at TDRI, who are always horrified by the dangers of nuclear power plants, Mr Dhanin bravely lauded the safety of today's nuclear technology.

When further compared to other sources of clean energy, a nuclear power plant can supply uninterrupted power for 24 hours a day versus the intermittent nature of solar power, which can only be supplied for eight hours a day, making it much more economical.

Don't warn scammers

Re: "Digital wallets lead to Cambodia scam", (BP, Oct 20).

Congrats to the CSD for their diligent investigation and five months of hard work in busting this scam operation -- a truly admirable effort! Bangkok Post reporter Wassayos Ngamkham's article gave us an impressive amount of detail on exactly how investigators were able to unravel this highly complex and well-organised scheme. However, I question the wisdom of publishing too much information and revealing the CSD playbook for all to see. I'm sure other scam masterminds are thankful for this.
