VS Gallery hosts two exhibitions of Thai art

01/11/2026 19:02:00

Sittidham Rohitasuk uses artificial intelligence to meet his former self at VS Gallery.

Running until Dec 28, Sittidham's exhibition carries the unwieldy title "The Story Of An Art Student Who Dreams Of Becoming A Conceptual Artist But Fails: The Case Of Sittidech Rohitasuk". It invites audiences to explore the failure of art students who are forced to give up their artistic pursuit.

Sittidham uses AI to imagine a conversation between himself at two different stages, 24 years apart. A mockumentary pits the present-day Sittidham against his former self, Sittidech (a birth name he later forsook for health-related reasons), to reflect on his journey, even though it may not be successful. Sittidham also reinterprets his oeuvre to show that, in a world where chasing a dream is difficult, the process itself is significant. At least it remains a valuable experience.

Nearby, Kittiya Reangrob explores the inner world of a woman who grew up in a working-class family in her exhibition.

Running until Dec 28, "As I Grow My Garden" emerges from the loss of her father. She sees painting as a way of healing and exploring other internal conflicts, spanning from relationships to gender and queer identity.

Kittiya draws on the aesthetic conventions of South Korean manhwa comics, characterised by a dreamy, cute style to represent herself. However, she chooses to depict these female figures with raw honesty.

The exhibition takes its title from the phrase "the garden I grow" to convey personal growth. Depicted with a variety of plants in different colours and stages, the garden shows the internal evolution of the artist. Set against the backdrop of a working-class residential environment -- chaotic yet beautiful, painful yet authentic -- her works reflect the experience of being true to herself.

Sittidham Rohitasuk and Kittiya Reangrob's exhibitions are running at VS Gallery until Dec 28. For more information, visit facebook.com/VSGalleryBangkok.
