José Mourinho will return to the Olimpico to face Roma, his former club, on matchday two of the Champions League. The Portuguese coach discussed that and plenty more in an interview with the Corriere dello Sport. Here are his words.
"There does not exist and there never will exist a single word from me against Roma or against their ownership: when I leave, I leave with a clean break and with a feeling that will always be my home".
"The day I arrived there were thousands of people there to welcome them and I still had not done anything. I do not deserve this but this is Roma".
"The Europa League final in Budapest is the highest point of this connection. I am only responsible for what happened in the tunnel with the referee and not for what happened at the airport. I paid for it with the relationship with the ownership, who had a different profile from mine and a different approach from the one I had for that final. On the day of the final in Budapest I was sacked: when I returned from holiday, I was already dead".
