A curious pup found himself face-to-face with a sound he’d likely never heard before and his response has social media talking.

On TikTok, user kelseydarragh shared a video showing her dog’s debut reaction to hearing bagpipes.

“Can you tell it’s my first time,” the caption of the post said.

A Head-Tilting Mystery

The clip, which appears to be taken in Scotland and begins by showing the Staffordshire bull terrier in a stroller when he first hears the pipes.

His ears stand at attention and his head tilts sharply from side to side as though he is trying to locate the source of the unfamiliar sound. He remains still with eyes fixed forward repeatedly adjusting his head angle in a focused attempt to process what he’s hearing

The short video centers on the dog’s first apparent encounter with the traditional Scottish instrument and 1.3 million viewers were drawn to his intense concentration and repeated head movements.

‘A true Highlander’

TikTok users filled the comments section with jokes about what might be going through the dog’s mind.

“Longest squeaky toy he’s ever heard,” one user wrote.

Another remarked, “He’s a true Highlander. Red hair and all.”

Several viewers focused on the dog’s methodical movements: “He’s trying to hear it from every angle,” one observed.

Another added, “I love the head tilts. So interested in the bagpipes.”

Viral Pooch Personalities

Viral videos involving dogs and their reactions to different human actions often capture attention online.

Newsweek reported about a popular TikTok video where a dog owner shared her pup’s response when the spare human comes home, instead of her favorite.

The clip shows the poster stepping through her front door as her Australian shepherd named Koda, not only doesn’t get up to greet her, but also refuses even to acknowledge her.

“When the wrong human shows up,” reads layover text in the clip, as the poster can be heard saying to the pup: “You’re not even going to get up to greet me? Hello to you too!”

Another Newsweek story covered a TikTok video which captured two dogs’ wildly different reactions to the same simple question.

The pair were captured showing off their polar opposite responses to the command “walk” in a short video filmed by their owner.

As soon as their owner posed the question, the cocker spaniel exploded into action. Meanwhile, the Labrador remained grounded, its body language exuding silent joy and eager anticipation.

Newsweek has reached out to kelseydarragh for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.
