The New York Giants brought in quarterback J.J. McCarthy via trade with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this week, adding another QB option in the wake of Jaxson Dart’s serious knee injury.

Jameis Winston is the team’s starting signal caller for now, but McCarthy could find his way onto the field depending on how things go over the next few weeks.

McCarthy, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, didn’t pan out in his brief career with the Vikings. However, Green Bay Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons believes the former Michigan Wolverines QB could be an excellent fit in New York.

McCarthy led Michigan to a College Football Playoff national championship victory under Jim Harbaugh. Now, he joins a similar system under John Harbaugh.

“JJ McCarthy, where has he come from? Michigan tree. In that Michigan time frame, what were they doing? Running the ball, running play action scheme,” Parsons said on his podcast. “Now he’s going to Harbaugh’s world. What do they do? They run the ball, play action scheme. … The Giants look like they are building something special.”
