If Miles Morales finally enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let it be known that Tom Holland has a huge hand behind the development.
The British actor, who has been essaying the role of one of the webslingers of MCU, Peter Parker/Spider-Man, has always been vocal about the inclusion of Miles Morales’ Spider-Man in the universe.
Canonically, Miles Morales takes up the job as the Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker in his universe. Thus, an entry of Miles would ominously point toward the demise of Holland’s Spider-Man in the universe.
However, given the slate of the movies, Marvel has planned, Holland’s Peter might be slinging through the New York City for a few more years, with rumors alleging that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” would start a new trilogy.
If that ultimately happens, then fitting Miles into that universe might need some arm-twisting. And, according to the “Avengers: Endgame” star, he has already undertaken that heavy work to leave a “legacy” behind.
Speaking to Hobby Consolas in a recent interview, Holland opened up about his role in bringing another Spider-Man in the MCU, saying he is taking an active interest toward that too.
“I think at this point in time, we’re being really open-minded about what the future looks like,” shared Holland, and added, “I know that I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out. We’ve got a lot of work to do to bring that to life. But yeah, I feel really strongly about it.”
He added that his mentor, the former Tony Stark/Iron Man actor, Robert Downey Jr., in fact, is partly responsible in shaping up his mind. The young actor, who will soon be seen in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” along with his wife Zendaya, shared that he would like to carry forward the guidance that he received from the Oscar-winning actor during his starting days in the MCU.
“I feel incredibly grateful for the way I was introduced into this world and that I was shepherded by [Robert Downey Jr]. I would love to kind of return that favor to the next generation of people that get the luxury of making these movies,” shared Holland, before adding, “So that is definitely something that I’m really working towards.”
