TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Although set in New York City, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day was filmed almost entirely across the United Kingdom. Reports suggest that Director Destin Daniel Cretton’s production relied on set construction at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, digital visual effects, and location shoots across Scotland and England to recreate Peter Parker's hometown.
As cited by the BBC, Quartz, and other news sites, several real-world UK spots doubled for iconic American settings in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and many are still open to visitors.
List of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Filming Locations
Glasgow, Scotland
During an early action sequence involving a hijacked tank in Manhattan, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), race through the streets. These scenes were filmed along Bothwell Street, St. Vincent Street, Hutcheson Street, and Wilson Street in central Glasgow.
The Scottish city frequently doubles for American urban centers due to its Victorian grid layout. According to Quartz, local businesses like the Chaakoo Bombay Cafe on St. Vincent Street remained open during production. "Not saying we're the star of the new Spider-Man film... but if you keep your eyes peeled, you might just spot us in the background," Chaakoo Bombay Cafe shared on Instagram.
A Glasgow City Council spokesperson told The Telegraph that major studio shoots bring a strong feel-good factor to the city center as crowds turn out to watch.
Basingstoke and Hertfordshire
In Hampshire, an 18-story 1970s Brutalist tower in Basingstoke that formerly served as the Automobile Association headquarters, Fanum House, doubles as the Damage Control Westside Branch facility.
Meanwhile, Hertfordshire County Hall in Hertford stood in for Empire State University. In the film, Peter poses as a student at the campus quad to seek advice from Professor Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) regarding his mutating spider DNA.
London Landmarks
Multiple sites across London anchor pivotal moments in the story. In central London, Senate House, the administrative center of the University of London in Bloomsbury, serves as the central headquarters for Damage Control. The 1930s Art Deco building was digitally heightened for the film.
Other London locations include Ravenscourt Park in Hammersmith and West Carriage Drive in Battersea Park, where scenes featuring Tom Holland and Zendaya were filmed near the lakeside Pear Tree Cafe.
Kent and Dorset
For Frank Castle's boathouse hideout, which features a digitally added Manhattan skyline, the production filmed at Turk's Shipyard within the Historic Dockyard Chatham on the River Medway in Kent.
A battle scene between Spider-Man and the Hand was filmed inside the decommissioned Dorchester Prison in Dorset, a 19th-century jail that closed in 2014.
Surrey
Emotional character moments brought the cast to Surrey’s Brookwood Cemetery, the largest burial ground in the UK, where Peter visits the grave of Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). Quartz reported that Holland filmed the emotional scenes at the active burial ground in August 2025.
