TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spider-Man: Brand New Day is getting a theatrical return with additional footage, including a previously cut cameo by Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
According to Deadline, Sony is preparing the re-release of the Destin Daniel Cretton-helmed film, starring Tom Holland as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man himself. One of the additional scenes will reportedly bring back Claire Temple, a nurse known for providing medical assistance to vigilantes.
Dawson previously revealed in several interviews that she filmed a scene for Brand New Day, but it was ultimately cut from the theatrical version. Claire Temple has appeared earlier in several street-level Marvel series, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.
Claire Temple’s return is just one of the surprises in the re-release, with Deadline reporting that Sony has prepared additional footage. Meanwhile, the studio has yet to reveal further details about the new scenes or announce a release date for the theatrical return.
The re-release comes while Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still playing in cinemas across the globe and has grossed $2.495 billion worldwide, including $950.7 million from North America. The move also follows the successful re-release of Avengers: Endgame: Encore, which earned $86 million worldwide and pushed the film’s lifetime total to $2.885 billion.
