The People's Council of Ha Tinh province has just approved a Resolution adjusting the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, with many new contents related to development space, urban system, transportation infrastructure, marine economy and growth-driven sectors.
According to the revised plan, Ha Tinh aims for an average GRDP growth rate of 10% or more during the 2026-2030 period, with an average GRDP per capita of 180-185 million VND by 2030. Besides industrial and energy development, this plan shows an increasingly clear direction in exploiting the potential of coastal tourism, ecotourism, and cultural tourism.
One notable point is the restructuring of the development space into five economic zones, including a comprehensive marine economic zone and marine ecological conservation zone. This is considered an important foundation for Ha Tinh to develop marine tourism products associated with resource conservation, effectively exploiting its more than 137 km long coastline and many famous beaches such as Thien Cam, Xuan Thanh, Ky Xuan, Ky Ninh, and Deo Con.
The plan also establishes the coastal development corridor as one of the province's four key economic corridors. This corridor connects coastal cities, tourist areas, economic zones, and the seaport system, facilitating the formation of integrated tourism routes between Ha Tinh and Nghe An, Quang Binh, and other localities in the North Central region.
Notably, the province has added research into the planning of a potential airport in the Yen Hoa and Thien Cam areas. If approved by the competent authorities in the future, this will be a major boost to the local tourism industry, helping to shorten travel time for tourists from major economic centers such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or international markets to Ha Tinh.
According to tourism experts, Thien Cam is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the North Central region, but has long faced limitations in terms of air accessibility. Therefore, research into an airport in this area is expected to create momentum to attract investment in high-end resort, entertainment, and tourism projects.
In addition, the plan continues to include research on a highway connecting the Cau Treo International Border Gate with key areas in the province. The improved external transportation system will not only boost trade and logistics but also expand the tourist market from Laos and Northeast Thailand via the East-West Economic Corridor.
From an urban spatial development perspective, Ha Tinh aims to have 15 urban areas by 2030 and establish one new urban area. The urban system is organized according to three strategic zones and four development axes, creating a foundation for the formation of new service, trade, and tourism centers along the coastal route.
Besides beach resort tourism, the revised planning also opens up opportunities for developing ecotourism, nature-based experiences, and cultural tourism products. Ha Tinh currently possesses many unique tourism resources such as Thien Cam National Tourist Area, Ke Go Nature Reserve, Vu Quang National Park, Ngan Truoi Lake, along with a system of cultural heritage associated with the great poet Nguyen Du, the renowned figure Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac, and the Nghe Tinh folk songs and melodies recognized by UNESCO.
This planning adjustment is considered a crucial step in creating new development opportunities for Ha Tinh in the coming period. Not only does it aim to become a regional center for industry, energy, and logistics, but it also lays the foundation for effectively exploiting the potential of coastal tourism, ecotourism, and cultural tourism, gradually transforming tourism into an economic sector that contributes increasingly to the province's growth.
