New regulations regarding periodic computer checks.
The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Circular No. 89/2026/TT-BGDĐT amending and supplementing the regulations on student assessment, which will take effect from December 1, 2026.
The circular stipulates that educational institutions are only allowed to conduct periodic tests and assessments on computers when they fully meet the conditions regarding facilities, information technology infrastructure, testing software, and operating procedures as guided by the Ministry of Education and Training.
To ensure transparency, schools are responsible for publicly disclosing the examination format and technical requirements, and for informing students and their parents before organizing the examination.
For computer-based assignments, the assignment data and test results are stored electronically, having the same legal validity as paper-based assignments when all requirements of the law on electronic transactions are met.
